The best Instagram tracker apps compared for 2026
“Instagram tracker app” covers three very different kinds of tool. Some analyze your own account after you sign in. Some watch other people’s public accounts and log who they follow. Some just let you look at a public story without showing up in the viewer list. Most bad buys happen because people pick from the wrong group.
This roundup sorts eight popular options by what they are actually for. One disclosure up front: Peekd is our product, and we rank it first for tracking public accounts. To keep that fair, every competitor fact below comes from the tool’s own website, store listing, terms or public reviews, checked on October 12, 2026, and each one links to a longer comparison. We are not affiliated with Instagram, Meta or any app listed here.

How it works
- 1
Pick the right group
Own-account analytics, tracking someone else, or a one-off story look.
- 2
Check the login
For other people’s public accounts, choose a tool that never asks for your password.
- 3
Try the free tier
Peekd’s free plan tracks one public account with dated follows and alerts.

1. Peekd: best overall for public accounts
What it’s for: keeping an eye on someone else’s public account over time. You add a username, Peekd saves who that account follows and who follows it, then re-checks on a schedule.
Why we put it first: it is the only tool here that combines four things. No Instagram login at all. A dated timeline of new follows and unfollows. Real-time alerts when the account changes. Anonymous viewing of public stories. It runs on the web, iPhone and Android with one account, and the free plan tracks one account with no card.
Say you want to know whether your ex followed someone new this week. Instagram won’t tell you, and their following list isn’t a dependable timeline. Peekd shows the new account and the day it appeared. Start with the Instagram follower tracker, or check your own not-following-back list for free.
Honest drawback: public accounts only, nothing verified or above 10,000 followers, and no history from before you started tracking. No likes, comments, DMs or profile visitors either.

Own-account analytics apps
2. Reports+ (Deep Vision Labs)
Best for: engagement analytics on your own profile: ghost followers, top followers, story and post metrics, up to four of your accounts. Key facts: requires signing in with your Instagram account; iPhone and iPad only, English only; 4.6 stars from about 494,000 ratings on the US App Store, as of October 2026. Drawback: the most common complaint in recent reviews is being logged out or asked to re-verify by Instagram after connecting. Reports+ vs Peekd.
3. FollowMeter
Best for: a classic unfollowers app for your own account, around since 2013, with lists of unfollowers, non-followers, ghost followers and story viewers. Key facts: sign-in with your Instagram account; iPhone, iPad and Android; 4.1 stars from about 24,000 ratings on the US App Store and 3.1 on Google Play, as of October 2026. Drawback: its Google Play data safety section says data can’t be deleted, and reviewers report logouts and slow refreshes. FollowMeter vs Peekd.
Neither app tracks another person’s account. If that is what you want, skip this group.
Trackers for other people’s accounts
4. IGDetective
Best for: browser users who also want likes and comments on public profiles, plus extras like an AI chat about tracked accounts. Key facts: no Instagram login; web only, English only; free plan covers 1 profile but no follow tracking; follow tracking needs Premium, shown at $30/month with a 7-day refund. Drawback: no alerts are mentioned anywhere on its site, and its own methodology page says new follows can take a few days to appear. IGDetective vs Peekd.
5. Snoopreport
Best for: weekly or monthly reports on likes and follows, including large and verified accounts that Peekd can’t cover. Key facts: no Instagram login; web plus an iPhone app (4.8 stars from about 24 ratings on the US App Store, as of October 2026); from $4.99/month for 2 accounts; run by a named US company. Drawback: no free plan, payments are non-refundable, its FAQ says reports catch about 5% to 75% of actions, and the app says plainly it is not real time. Snoopreport vs Peekd.
6. Recentfollow
Best for: a quick “who did they follow lately” lookup on recentfollow.com. Key facts: no Instagram login; web only; the visible plan was $14/week; TrustScore 4.5 from 29 Trustpilot reviews, as of October 2026. Drawback: its refund rules conflict across pages (a 7-day guarantee in the terms, “No refunds” on the About page), and it doesn’t explain how it orders results or whether it shows dates. An iPhone app with the same name is listed under a developer called Bob Wei, and we couldn’t confirm it belongs to the website. Recentfollow vs Peekd.
Anonymous story viewers
7. Mollygram
Best for: free one-off viewing and downloading of public stories, highlights and reels, in 13 languages. Key facts: no login, no account, browser only, ad-supported. Drawback: heavy ads on our visit (a late-loading ad sent our first click to another site), a consent banner naming 210 partners, and no named operator. Mollygram vs Peekd.
Also in this group: StoryNavigation works without sign-up and charts follower counts, but sends you to a Telegram bot for follower lists. Imginn is mainly for browsing and downloading posts and reels. Picuki no longer shows Instagram at all: picuki.com now forwards to a TikTok viewer. AnonyIG shows stories, reels and posts with downloads, but comes with heavy ads and a paid “private accounts” upsell for another product. Inflact has an ad-free viewer limited to one profile a day on the free tier, and is now mainly an influencer research tool for brands. StoriesIG is now split across lookalike domains, and the old storiesig.net, .me and .io addresses are registered to Meta.
8. Insnoop
Best for: the simplest possible story and highlight check, with downloads. Key facts: free, no login, browser only; our test lookups worked within seconds and showed no ads. Drawback: no operator name or address anywhere, lookalike domains (insnoop.pro, insnoop.io) of unclear relation, and no history or follow data at all. Insnoop vs Peekd.
Both forget everything after each search. Peekd’s free story viewer covers the same quick look, and the app adds follow tracking.
How we compared
We did not run long-term tests of every paid plan, and we won’t pretend we did. For each tool we read its website, FAQ, pricing page, terms and privacy policy, its App Store and Google Play listings where they exist, and recent public reviews. We opened Insnoop and Mollygram in a browser ourselves. All of it was checked on October 12, 2026, and each fact is sourced in our notes.
We make Peekd, so we stuck to published facts about competitors and listed Peekd’s limits as plainly as theirs. Ratings are quoted as each store or review site showed them that day. We left out Peekd’s own rating because it isn’t comparable.
Red flags when choosing a tracker
- It asks for your Instagram password to track someone else. You don’t need to log in to read public data, and linking your account is what reviewers connect to lockouts.
- It promises private accounts. Without the owner’s approval, no outside tool can open a private profile.
- It claims to show profile visitors. Instagram doesn’t share that data, as covered in who viewed my Instagram profile.
- No named operator. If there is no company name or address, you don’t know who holds your email and card.
- Unclear refunds. Read the terms before paying. Weekly plans and auto-renewal add up fast.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Instagram tracker app?
It depends on the job. For tracking another person’s public follows and unfollows with dates and alerts, without a login, we recommend Peekd (our own product). For analytics on your own account, Reports+ is the most-reviewed option, with 4.6 stars from about 494,000 ratings on the US App Store.
Is there a free Instagram follower tracker?
Yes. Peekd’s free plan tracks one public account. IGDetective has a free tier, but follow tracking is paid. Insnoop and Mollygram are free but only show stories, not follows.
What is the best unfollowers app?
For your own account, Reports+ and FollowMeter both list unfollowers after you sign in. If you’d rather not link your account, our free not-following-back checker works from your Instagram data export.
Do Instagram tracker apps notify the other person?
Instagram doesn’t notify anyone when a public profile or follower list is read. Watching a story the normal way does put you in the viewer list, which anonymous viewers avoid.
Can any tracker app see private accounts?
No. Every tool in this list says it only works with public accounts. Treat any app that promises otherwise as a red flag.
Are Instagram tracker apps safe?
The biggest risk is handing over your login. Tools that read only public data avoid that. Also check who runs the service and how refunds work before you pay.
