The best StoriesIG alternatives: which one to use in 2026
StoriesIG was one of the first anonymous Instagram story viewers, and people still search for it about 90,500 times a month in the US and 246,000 times in Germany. The trouble is that “StoriesIG” is no longer one website. Several domains use the name, they look alike, and the addresses many people remember now belong to Meta.
We checked them all on October 12, 2026: storiesig.com, its lookalikes, their privacy policies, terms and page code. Every fact below is sourced in our fact sheet. Peekd is our product and we rank it first, so we have been careful to give everyone else a fair hearing. We are not affiliated with any StoriesIG site, Instagram or Meta.

Switch from StoriesIG in two minutes
- 1
Check the account is public
Enter the username on the free story viewer page. If it’s private, no tool can help.
- 2
Open Peekd
Go to app.peekdapp.com or get the iPhone or Android app. The free plan needs no card and no Instagram login.
- 3
Add the username
Peekd takes its first snapshot of who the account follows and who follows it.
- 4
Get alerts
Watch public stories anonymously, then get an alert when the account follows or unfollows someone.
The short answer
If you just want a public story right now, any working viewer will do. Insnoop loaded fastest in our tests and showed no ads.
If you keep going back to the same account, a viewer is the wrong tool. Say you check an ex’s stories every few days. What you really want to know is who they started following and who they dropped, and no StoriesIG site keeps any history. Peekd shows public stories anonymously too, then keeps a dated timeline of new follows and unfollows and sends an alert when something changes. It runs on the web, iPhone and Android, and one account is free.
Which StoriesIG is the real one?
This is the part most StoriesIG pages skip.
- storiesig.com is the oldest live StoriesIG domain, registered in 2017. It lists a Seychelles address but no company name.
- storiesig.net, storiesig.me and storiesig.io, the addresses older reviews link to, don’t load at all today. Their domain records list Meta Platforms or Instagram, LLC as the owner. We found no public explanation.
- storiesig.info ranks first on Google in Germany. It uses the same header logo as storiesig.com but has its own analytics, emails and registrar, so treat it as a separate site.
- storiesig.cc and storiesig.org are newer viewers from 2025 with their own designs.
Lookalike domains are normal in this category. Just check the address bar before you trust a site, and never type a password into one.
The best StoriesIG alternatives, ranked
1. Peekd: best if you check the same person again and again
Peekd tracks any public account without a login. Add a username and it saves who that account follows and who follows it, then checks again on a schedule. New follows and unfollows show up with the day Peekd first saw them, and you get a real-time alert. Public stories open anonymously in the same app. Limits: public accounts only, nothing verified or above 10,000 followers, and no history from before tracking started. Try the follower tracker.
2. Insnoop: best for a fast, quiet story check
Free, no login, browser only. Our test lookups loaded within seconds and showed no ads. Stories and highlights with downloads, but no operator name and no history. Insnoop vs Peekd.
3. AnonyIG: best for reels and posts as well
Free, no login, with stories, highlights, reels and posts to view and download. Our search worked. Expect heavy ads and a paid “private accounts” upsell for another product. AnonyIG alternatives.
4. Mollygram: best for downloads in 13 languages
Free and ad-supported, no login. It lists stories, highlights, reels, photos and videos. On our visit a human check appeared before any results. Mollygram vs Peekd.
5. StoryNavigation: best for follower-count charts
No sign-up needed, and it charts follower counts over time. For actual follower lists it sends you to a Telegram bot. StoryNavigation vs Peekd.

What Peekd does that StoriesIG doesn’t
Every StoriesIG site works the same way: search, look, leave. Nothing is remembered, so spotting a change is up to you. Peekd is built around that gap.
- A dated follow timeline. A new name in the account’s following list appears with a date. That answers who someone recently followed, which Instagram doesn’t show in order.
- Alerts. No more checking a viewer every morning. Peekd tells you when the account follows or unfollows someone.
- Stories in the same place. Public stories open without putting you in the viewer list. Our free story viewer check tells you first whether an account is public.
- One address that stays put. app.peekdapp.com plus apps for iPhone and Android, with one account across all three.
An example: your boyfriend’s story from Sunday looks like any other. StoriesIG can show you that story. It can’t tell you he followed three new accounts on Friday. Peekd can, as long as tracking started before Friday.
Where StoriesIG is good
- Lots of media types. storiesig.com lists stories, highlights, reels, reels audio as MP3, posts and full-size profile pictures. Peekd offers none of those downloads.
- Mentioned accounts. Its result pages list the accounts mentioned in each story, a nice detail.
- Clear rules. The FAQ and terms say plainly that private accounts can’t be opened, and the privacy policy says request logs are kept for about 30 days.
- 40 languages, including a German version.
- No size limit mentioned, so it’s the better fit for celebrities and verified accounts, which Peekd doesn’t support.
Is StoriesIG safe? What we saw
No StoriesIG site we checked asks for your Instagram password. That removes the biggest risk. Here is what else we noticed on October 12, 2026:
- storiesig.com didn’t return results for us. Two searches for public accounts ended in “An error has occurred”. The cause may have been our test browser failing an invisible bot check rather than an outage, so try it yourself.
- Tracking that the policy doesn’t mention. Before we answered its consent banner (210 partners, no one-click decline), storiesig.com had already loaded Google AdSense, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, a session-recording tool. Its privacy policy names none of them.
- A premium plan that comes and goes. The FAQ says there are no premium tiers, while Google still showed a storiesig.com pricing page mentioning a Premium plan. That page returned an error when we opened it.
- storiesig.info is rougher. No consent banner, an attempted pop-under tab after our search, and a $11.99 subscription offer for a separate downloader called Televzr.
Use an ad blocker, ignore any “private account” offers, and skip extensions and downloads these sites promote. Our guide to Instagram stalker apps has a fuller checklist, and it applies to Peekd too.
Which one should you use?
- One story, right now: Insnoop, AnonyIG, or our free story viewer.
- A celebrity or verified account: a viewer such as StoriesIG or AnonyIG. Peekd doesn’t support those.
- Someone you keep checking (an ex, a partner, a friend, a competitor): Peekd. Stories and the follow timeline in one app.
- Your own unfollowers: use the free not-following-back checker.
- A private account: nobody can help. Ask to follow.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best StoriesIG alternative?
For a quick public story, Insnoop was the fastest and cleanest in our tests. If you check the same account regularly, Peekd is the better pick: anonymous public stories plus dated follows, unfollows and alerts.
Is StoriesIG still working?
storiesig.com is online, but our searches on October 12, 2026 returned an error, possibly because of our test setup. The older storiesig.net, .me and .io addresses don’t load at all, and their records list Meta as the owner.
Is StoriesIG safe?
It doesn’t ask for your Instagram login, which is good. storiesig.com loaded ad and session-recording scripts before we answered its consent banner, and lookalike sites push paid add-ons. Use an ad blocker and never enter a password.
Is there a StoriesIG app?
No. storiesig.com says it is web-only, and we found no StoriesIG app in the App Store or on Google Play. Peekd has apps for iPhone and Android plus a web version.
Does StoriesIG notify the person?
StoriesIG says its servers fetch public stories the way a logged-out browser would, so no view is recorded under your name. Public stories viewed in Peekd don’t show you in the viewer list either.
Can StoriesIG see private accounts?
No. Its FAQ and terms say only public profiles work. No tool can legitimately open a private account, Peekd included.
