Mollygram alternative: Mollygram vs Peekd, tested

Mollygram (mollygram.com) is one of the most searched anonymous Instagram story viewers. You paste a public username into a website and look at that account’s current stories without logging in. It answers one question well: what did they post today? Peekd answers that question too, then keeps watching the account and tells you when it follows or unfollows someone.

We visited Mollygram on October 12, 2026, read its homepage, FAQ, privacy policy and terms, and noted what happened in the browser. Everything we say about it below comes from that visit and is listed with sources in our fact sheet. Peekd is our product, and we are not affiliated with Mollygram, Instagram or Meta. 4. 4

Watch stories and wait for alerts

Open public stories anonymously, then get an alert when the account follows or unfollows someone.

The short answer

Use Mollygram if you want a one-off look at a public story, highlight or reel right now, you don’t want to create any account, and you can live with heavy ads.

Use Peekd if the story is only part of what you want to know. Say you check an ex’s stories every few days. What you are really asking is what changed: who they started following, who they dropped, whether something is going on. Mollygram shows you today’s story and forgets you were there. Peekd views public stories anonymously and also builds a dated timeline of new follows and unfollows, with an alert when something changes, on the web, iPhone and Android.

Neither tool can open a private account. Nobody legitimate can.

What Peekd does that Mollygram doesn’t

Mollygram is a lookup. Every visit is a fresh search with no memory, so if you want to know whether something changed, you have to remember what you saw last time. Peekd is built around that gap.

  • A dated follow timeline. Add a public username and Peekd snapshots who the account follows and who follows it, then re-checks on a schedule. A new name shows up with the day Peekd first saw it. That is the answer to who someone recently followed, which Instagram itself doesn’t show.
  • Alerts, so you stop checking. With Mollygram you come back and search again. Peekd tells you when the tracked account follows or unfollows someone.
  • Stories in the same place. Open the account’s public stories in Peekd without landing in the viewer list. Our anonymous story viewer page lets you check for free first whether an account is public.
  • Who doesn’t follow back. Useful for your own account too. The free not-following-back checker needs no sign-up.
  • Web, iPhone and Android. Peekd runs at app.peekdapp.com and as iPhone and Android apps, with one account across all three.

A concrete case: your partner says they barely use Instagram. Their story from last night looks normal. Mollygram can show you that story. It can’t tell you they followed three new accounts on Tuesday. Peekd can, as long as you started tracking before Tuesday. Tracking starts on the day you add someone, so Peekd can’t show anything from before then.

Where Mollygram is good

Credit where it’s due. For a quick peek, Mollygram is hard to beat on effort.

  • Zero setup. No Mollygram account and no Instagram login. Paste a name and go.
  • More media types. It lists stories, highlights, reels, photos, videos, IGTV and profile pictures, with downloads where a button is shown. Peekd doesn’t offer highlights or media downloads.
  • No size limit mentioned. Peekd doesn’t support verified accounts or accounts above 10,000 followers. If you want a celebrity’s story, Mollygram is the more likely fit.
  • Clear on private accounts. Its homepage says it does not bypass private-profile settings. That honesty is less common in this category than it should be.
  • Thirteen languages, including German.

Is Mollygram safe? What we saw

Mollygram never asks for your Instagram password, and that removes the biggest risk with Instagram tools. Here is what else we noticed on our visit (desktop Chrome, October 12, 2026):

  • A consent banner said data may be shared with 210 partners. You can refuse in “Manage options”, which is what we did.
  • Heavy ads. A large display ad sat above the search box and a video ad player below it. The display ad loaded late and pushed the page down, so our first click on the search box landed on the ad and opened another website.
  • A “confirm you are human” check appeared after we searched a public account, before any results.
  • A promo for a separate app. The page code includes a pop-up for an iPhone app called Black View, pitched as “story alerts and private viewing”. Its App Store listing describes a video vault app and had 1.8 stars from 5 ratings on the US App Store, as of October 2026.
  • Mixed messages on private accounts. The homepage says private profiles stay private, while its photo downloader page talks about downloading “private accounts photos”.
  • Thin paperwork. No company name is listed. The privacy policy and terms are written for a mobile app, date from 2022 and don’t describe the website.

None of this makes it dangerous by itself. It does mean you should use an ad blocker or a private window, never type a password into anything it links to, and ignore any promise of private-account access. Our guide to Instagram stalker apps has a longer checklist, and it applies to Peekd too.

Mollygram pricing vs Peekd’s free plan

Mollygram is free and lists no prices. It pays for itself with ads. Peekd has a free plan that tracks one public account with dated follows, unfollows, alerts and anonymous story viewing, no card needed. Paid plans track more accounts. The browser tools on peekdapp.com, such as the story viewer check and the not-following-back checker, are free with no sign-up.

Which one should you use?

  • Just this one story, right now: Mollygram works, or check the account in our free story viewer and open it in Peekd.
  • A celebrity or verified account: Mollygram. Peekd doesn’t support those.
  • Someone you keep checking (an ex, a partner, a friend group, a rival brand): Peekd. The follower tracker does the remembering, and you get stories in the same app.
  • A private account: neither. Ask to follow.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Mollygram alternative?

If you only want to view a public story once, any viewer that needs no login will do. If you check the same account again and again, Peekd is the better fit: anonymous public stories plus dated follows, unfollows and alerts.

Is Mollygram safe to use?

It doesn’t ask for your Instagram login, which is good. On our visit it showed heavy ads, a consent banner naming 210 partners and a promo for a separate app. Use an ad blocker and never enter a password on a viewer site.

Is Mollygram free?

Yes. It lists no prices and is paid for by ads. Peekd also has a free plan that tracks one public account.

Does Mollygram notify the person whose story I view?

Mollygram says no Instagram login is needed, so your account isn’t used and your name shouldn’t appear in the viewer list. The same goes for public stories viewed in Peekd.

Why is Mollygram not working?

Common reasons: the story expired after 24 hours, the account is private or the username is mistyped, an ad blocker or the human check stopped the search, or the site is having trouble reaching Instagram. If it keeps failing, try Peekd’s free story viewer check.

Can Mollygram see private Instagram accounts?

No. Its homepage says it does not bypass private-profile settings. No tool can legitimately show a private account, Peekd included.
