Picuki alternative: what happened to Picuki, and what to use now
If you typed “picuki” into Google expecting the old Instagram viewer, you probably got a surprise. On October 12, 2026, opening picuki.com sent us straight to tikvib.com, a TikTok viewer. A Picuki profile link for natgeo opened a TikTok page instead. There is no Instagram search anymore, no hashtags, no editor. So if Picuki is not working for you, it isn’t your browser.
This page explains what happened to Picuki, using archived copies of the site, which picuki lookalike domains are around now, and what to use instead depending on what you actually wanted from it. Peekd is our product, and we are not affiliated with Picuki, Tikvib, Instagram or Meta. Every claim about Picuki below is listed with a source and date in our fact sheet.

Watch public stories anonymously and get an alert when the account follows or unfollows someone.
The short answer
The original Picuki is gone as an Instagram tool. It stopped showing Instagram content in early 2025, ran as a TikTok downloader for a few months, and since about September 2025 picuki.com forwards to tikvib.com.
If you used Picuki to scroll someone’s posts or a hashtag, Peekd is not a direct replacement. We don’t do post grids or hashtag search. Sites that copy the Picuki name do, with caveats we cover below.
If you used Picuki to keep an eye on one person, an ex, a partner, a friend you are curious about, Peekd is the better tool. It shows public stories anonymously and keeps a dated record of who that account follows and unfollows, with an alert when something changes.
And no tool, old Picuki included, can legitimately open a private account.
What happened to Picuki? A short timeline
Picuki never published an announcement that we could find. The Wayback Machine at archive.org keeps snapshots of picuki.com, and they tell the story clearly:
- 2022 to 2023: “Instagram editor and viewer.” You could search profiles, tags and locations, view stories, browse trending accounts and edit photos, all without logging in.
- Mid 2024 to January 1, 2025: “Instagram viewer and downloader.” Still Instagram, now with a link to TikTok downloads on the homepage.
- Mid January 2025: a snapshot shows a server error.
- February 2025: the homepage is a “TikTok downloader & viewer” with a note that some options were not working. Instagram is gone from the page.
- Late September 2025 onward: picuki.com forwards every visitor to tikvib.com.
- October 12, 2026 (our visit): still forwarding to tikvib.com, which offers TikTok tools only and doesn’t mention Picuki at all.
Why it happened isn’t stated anywhere we could find. Instagram has made public profiles harder to load without logging in, and viewer sites break often when it changes things. That fits the timeline, but it is our reading, not something Picuki said.
The picuki lookalike sites
A famous name with no owner using it attracts copies. We checked the common variants on October 12, 2026. None of them says it is the original Picuki, and none names a company behind it.
- picuki.site works like the old Picuki: a lookup of natgeo showed posts, stories, highlights and reels with download links. It also lists followers, following and likes viewers. When we pressed Enter to search, the page tried to open a new tab to an unrelated site, which our browser blocked. Its about page says it started in 2023, and we found no privacy policy page.
- picuki.net was registered in December 2025. Its how-to tells you to type “any profile, including a private account”, which no viewer can deliver.
- picuki.io showed PHP error messages in the middle of its homepage on our visit.
- picuki.me, picuki.org and picuki.pro were parked or bounced us to ad and parking pages.
We are not saying any of these is unsafe. We are saying you should treat each as a new, anonymous website, because that is what it is. Don’t type an Instagram password into any of them, and ignore any promise about private accounts.

What Peekd does that Picuki never did
Picuki was a window. You looked through it, then closed it, and the next visit started from zero. That is fine for browsing. It is useless for the question most people bring to these sites: what changed?
- A dated follow timeline. Add a public username and Peekd snapshots who the account follows and who follows it, then re-checks on a schedule. Each new name appears with the day Peekd first saw it. That answers who someone recently followed, which Instagram doesn’t show you.
- Alerts. You stop checking. Peekd tells you when the account follows or unfollows someone.
- Stories in the same app. Open public stories without landing in the viewer list. Our free story viewer page checks first whether an account is public.
- A company you can find. Peekd is published by Reelpop Media LLC, the seller named on the App Store. The Picuki domains above name nobody.
- Clear limits. Public accounts only, no verified accounts, nothing above 10,000 followers, and no history from before you started tracking. They are all on one page.
Here is how that plays out. Say your ex’s posts look quiet, the same beach photos as always. A Picuki-style viewer shows you those photos. It can’t tell you he followed four new accounts last Thursday, two of them from the same friend group. Peekd can, as long as you added him before Thursday.
Where Picuki was better
To be fair to Picuki, it was very good at things Peekd doesn’t try to do.
- Browsing. Scrolling a full post grid, a hashtag or a location without an account was its core feature. Peekd has no feed, no hashtag search and no post viewer.
- Celebrities. Its homepage listed accounts like natgeo and therock. Peekd doesn’t support verified accounts or anything above 10,000 followers.
- The editor. It offered simple edits on public photos. Nothing like that in Peekd.
- Zero setup. Paste a name, done. Peekd needs a free account to track someone, though our browser tools don’t.
If those were your reasons for using Picuki, Peekd is the wrong swap. Our guide on Instagram stalker apps explains what the different kinds of tools can and can’t do.
Is it safe to use Picuki copies?
A site using Picuki’s name today is a different website from the one you remember. The things that matter:
- Never log in. A viewer that needs your Instagram password puts your account at risk. The old Picuki didn’t need it, and Peekd never asks for it.
- Distrust private-account claims. Instagram keeps private posts on its own servers for approved followers. A site that says otherwise is wrong.
- Watch for pop-ups and redirects. We saw a new-tab attempt on one copy and ad redirects on parked domains. An ad blocker or private window helps.
- Look for a name. A company name, a privacy policy and a contact address are the minimum.
Pricing
Picuki was free to use. The copies we checked are free too. Peekd has a free plan that tracks one public account with dated follows, unfollows, alerts and anonymous stories, no card needed. Paid plans track more accounts. The browser tools on peekdapp.com, like the not-following-back checker, are free with no sign-up.
Which one should you use?
- Scroll a celebrity’s posts or a hashtag: a Picuki-style viewer, with the cautions above, or Instagram itself.
- See one person’s story without them knowing: check the account on our free story viewer, then open it in Peekd.
- Keep tabs on someone over weeks: Peekd. The follower tracker remembers every change for you.
- A private account: nothing works. Send a follow request.
Frequently asked questions
Is Picuki not working anymore?
Correct, for Instagram. Since about September 2025, picuki.com forwards to tikvib.com, a TikTok viewer. On our visit on October 12, 2026, there was no Instagram search left on picuki.com.
What happened to Picuki?
Archived copies show it was an Instagram viewer and editor until January 2025, a TikTok downloader from about February 2025, and a redirect to tikvib.com from late September 2025. No reason was published.
What is the best Picuki alternative?
It depends on what you used it for. For browsing posts and hashtags, a viewer site. For following what one public account does over time, Peekd: anonymous stories plus dated follows, unfollows and alerts.
Is picuki.site the real Picuki?
Nothing on picuki.site says it is. Its about page says it started in 2023, while picuki.com dates from 2019. It names no company, and we found no privacy policy page.
Can Picuki see private Instagram accounts?
No. The original Picuki showed public content only, and no tool can legitimately open a private account. Peekd can’t either.
Does Picuki notify the person?
Viewer sites don’t use your Instagram account, so your name shouldn’t appear in a viewer list. The same goes for public stories viewed in Peekd.
