How to view stories anonymously
- 1
Check the username
Use the box above to confirm the account is public.
- 2
Open Peekd
Open Peekd in your browser (or the iPhone/Android app) and add the account. The free plan includes one.
- 3
Watch the story
Open the story inside Peekd. Your name doesn’t appear in the viewer list.
What this page does and doesn’t do
The check above confirms whether an account is public or private. It does not play stories in your browser, and we won’t pretend it does. Story viewing happens in Peekd itself.
That honesty matters because many “story viewer” sites ask you to complete surveys or log in, then show nothing. Peekd never asks for your Instagram password.
How anonymous viewing works
When you watch a story inside Instagram, your account is added to the viewer list the owner can open. Peekd fetches public stories without using your Instagram account, so there is no viewer entry with your name on it.
It only applies to public accounts. Stories from private accounts are visible only to approved followers, and no honest tool can open them. Anyone claiming to bypass that is selling something.
Good reasons to view anonymously
- Checking a competitor or brand without showing up in their analytics.
- Looking at an ex’s or old friend’s story without starting a conversation.
- Researching a creator before you follow or collaborate.
Stories disappear after 24 hours, so open them while they’re live. Peekd can also alert you when a tracked account changes who it follows. See how Peekd works for details.
